Becoming

You changed. Your life didn't get the memo.

“I've changed. Why does my life still look the same?”

This is one of the most under-discussed forms of discomfort: internal change with no external consequence yet.

You have understood something. Possibly through a difficult year. You see your work, your relationships, your time differently. And then Monday arrives and everything is exactly as it was.

Insight is not a change of circumstances

There is a comfortable trap here. Realising something feels like progress. It has the emotional signature of progress. But a life does not reorganise itself out of respect for your new self-awareness.

At some point the insight has to become a conversation with a specific person, or a line in a calendar, or something you stop doing on Thursdays. That step is where most change quietly dies.

Why the delay is often deliberate

Because the moment you act, other people find out. As long as it stays internal, nobody has to be disappointed and nothing has to be renegotiated.

So the honest question is not “why hasn’t my life changed”. It is: what is the first visible thing, and who does it affect?

If you are at the point where you don’t need another article, you need someone to think through the situation with you. That is the work I do.
